The Opportunity
Florida has exceptional maritime research institutions, naval and Coast Guard facilities, technology companies, ports, inland waterways, and experienced ocean operators. What it lacks is a coordinated regional environment dedicated to rapid coastal testing, technology maturation, collaboration, and transition.
The proposed Treasure Coast Maritime Test and Innovation Range would complement existing facilities rather than duplicate them. Properly implemented, the Treasure Coast could become a technology maturation and collaboration corridor that increases the use and value of Florida’s existing maritime infrastructure. It would provide a practical place to integrate systems, collect operational data, demonstrate performance, and prepare technologies for government, commercial, environmental, and public service use.
